James N. Magarian

About me

Through teaching, experiential learning programs development, and research, I help to prepare the engineering workforce of the future. I currently serve as Academic Director for MIT's programs in Technical Leadership and Communication (TLC). I joined academia after a period in industry as an engineer and engineering manager in aerospace.

My teaching spans engineering leadership, ethics, and design. My research focuses on engineering workforce formation and the career pathways of technical professionals and leaders.
